Salamat Ali, Chairman of Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PHMA) North Zone, recently stated that, the textile industry in Punjab had to face complete gas suspension for 22 days and 23 days during December 2010 and January 2011, respectively.
He asserted that, this happened in no other state in the country, but only in Punjab, as 380 CNG stations in Faisalabad alone faced the axe.
The official suggested that, all the stakeholders of textile and value-added textile industry should be consulted while formulating the policies, so as to sort out the issue of gas supply, financial crunch and most awful law and order situation.
He revealed that, the four to six day gas holiday had severely affected export items production, owing to which the textile sector is experiencing great stress.
