He advised viscose filament yarn producers to engage women consumers to understand their needs and requirements. He also recommended them to provide raw materials of the highest quality and provide valuable inputs to the Surat textile sector by engaging in research and development activities.

Next, Mr Vijesh Thakkar, Director – Vidilon Exports spoke on behalf of the textile exporting community. He began by saying, “Global buyers are full of praise for the high quality standards maintained by Indian textile and clothing exporters and despite competition from neighbouring countries, Indian textiles and garments have created a niche in worldwide markets”.

He informed, “As per a survey done by exporters, viscose plays as much an important role as other fabrics. Viscose has a big global market and an even great future. If quality and supply chains are managed properly, exports of viscose end-products can be increased sharply considering the unique properties of being eco and skin-friendly”.

Mr Vijesh Thakkar was followed by a presentation from Ms Rajeshree Netalkar from Dystar India who presented her views on colour solutions. She informed about the various services and solutions provided by Dystar to help the dyeing and printing textile sector as well as designers, in their need for colour solutions.

Next on the agenda was what the excited audience was waiting for. A shimmering fashion show presented by top-notch and emerging Indian fashion designers like, NC Shaina, Archana Kochhar, Prashant & Sudha and Amy Billimoria.

The models who showcased these shimmering outfits made from viscose filament yarn, included Femina Miss India Tourism and Miss Tourism World – Priyanka Shah and Femina Miss India Asia Pacific 2003 first runner-up Sonal Rawat and many other models.

The viscose fabric collections were more on the traditional side with a few western outfits. The traditional ones had a luster comparable to that of silk and with lots of embroidery thrown in. The four well-known fashion designers had one judgment in common - “Fabrics made from viscose filament yarn can be considered as an alternative to the more expensive silk”.

All in all, fabrics made from viscose filament yarn have the capacity to capitulate them as a first choice of designers and women considering its affordability and also due to the fact that it carries the unique dual properties of silk and cotton in a single fabric.
