Prime Minister Narendra Modi has advised a textile industry delegation that met him to send a brief note on the key issues to be addressed. Modi had called 11 textile industry representatives from all over India at his residence this week to know the plight of the industry in the country, Tiruppur Exporters' Association (TEA) said in a release.

"This is a first time that the Prime Minister interacted with only textile industry representatives to know the ground realities of the industry, which is really a rare occasion," said TEA president Raja M Shanmugham.

Growth, importance and potential of Tiruppur cluster were highlighted during the meeting, Shanmugham said. "We requested the Prime Minister to address the issues like risky exporter, impact of BASEL norms, and refund of pending claims under RoSL and MEIS schemes."
