Poor demand pulls down Asian MEG prices on Aug 3

Poor downstream demand, lower upstream product prices and decline in prices of other polyester feedstock pulled down MEG prices in Asia on Monday (Aug 3).

In India, prices were spotted at US$ 795/ton, lower by US$ 15/ton as compared to prices at the end of last week.

In China, prices were assessed at US$ 790/ton, down by US$ 15/ton vis-à-vis prices by the end of the previous week.

In contract markets, SABIC has nominated the contract prices of MEG for Asia market for August at US$ 1020/ton CFR Asia, lower by US$ 80/ton as compared to its July nomination levels.

Shell has also nominated its Asian contract prices for the month of August at US$ 1020/ton CFR Asia, down by US$ 120/ton as against the July nomination.
