Japanese computerised knitting technologies manufacturer Shima Seiki will exhibit at the 78th edition of the Pitti Immagine Filati exhibition in Florence, Italy in stall C18/19.

It will participate in the 'Fashion at Work' section of the exhibition which aims to appeal to the technical interests of visitors by providing hardware and software solutions for design, manufacturing and processing of knitted goods.

“The company will be displaying the SDS-ONE APEX3, which is also at the core of the company's 'Total Knitting System' concept,” a Shima Seiki press release revealed.

“The concept is made possible through its comprehensive support of the knit supply chain from planning and production to sales promotion, as well as its capability for virtual sampling,” Shima Seiki explained.

“Ultra-realistic simulation capability allows virtual sampling to minimise the costly time and resource consuming sample-making process, while products can also be evaluated using simulation in 3D,” it added.

Also on display for the first time at Pitti Filati will be a new 16-gauge version of Shima Seiki's SRY183LP machine, first introduced at the ITMA 2015 exhibition in Milan in November.

“With its special loop presser beds, SRY is capable of producing unique hybrid knit-weave fabrics that feature inlay yarn woven into knit fabrics,” it informed.

“As a direct response to requests for higher gauges, the long-awaited 16-gauge SRY machine has proven very popular with the Italian market, with interest also shown from circular knitting and weaving industries,” Shima Seiki noted.

Examples of knitwear produced on its latest line of computerised knitting machines will be displayed as well, including the seam-free Wholegarment knitwear.

These feature superior fit, comfort and draping characteristics. Additionally, Shima Seiki will also display new proposals in knitted textiles produced on the SRY machine. (AR)
