Sorona, the renewably sourced fibre produced by Dupont and used in various textile applications has completed five years of receiving the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification.

Sorona fibre, which is based on 37 per cent renewable ingredients, bagged the certification indicating that it has been tested to be free from harmful levels of more than 300 potentially dangerous substances.

Oeko-Tex granted Sorona a Class 1 certification signifying that it meets the most stringent limit levels Oeko-Tex requires for products intended for use by infants and toddlers age three and younger.

“Long time certificate holders like Sorona are leaders in the textile industry's ongoing efforts to operate more sustainably across the global supply chain,” Ben Mead who represents Oeko-Tex in North America said.

The certification requires annual renewal and Oeko-Tex conducts site visits and retail audits to help certificate holders maintain the standard's requirements.

“Sorona's Oeko-Tex certification also means that the fibre can be used in other Oeko-Tex certified textile and apparel products without concern,” the testing agency said. (AR)
