Around 230 local and international fashion brands from 22 countries and regions are participating in the third edition of Centrestage, Asia’s premier fashion event, to be held during September 5-8 in Hong Kong. The show will feature three theme zones – Iconic Allure and Metro - and host over 20 fashion shows and parades. There will be about 40 events.

The opening gala fashion show Centrestage Elites will feature the 2019 Spring/Summer collections of Japanese avant-garde streetwear label Facetasm, Hong Kong ready-to-wear womenswear label Idism and Chinese luxury womenswear label Ms MIN. Several celebrities and artistes have been invited to attend the show.

Centrestage Elites will be followed by the Fashion Hong Kong Runway Show, featuring eight designer labels that have taken part in other major international fashion events – in New York, London, Copenhagen, Tokyo and Shanghai.

Another Centrestage highlight will be the finals of The Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest 2018 (YDC). Sixteen shortlisted candidates will compete for five awards. London-based international designer Martine Rose will serve as the VIP judge this year. Other features include the Redress Design Award, the Knitwear Symphony 2018 and the 8th Hong Kong Knitwear Designers’ Contest presented by the Knitwear Innovation and Design Society, and a runway show unveiling the latest collection of local designer Dorian Ho’s namesake label.

The HKTDC will also organise the Meet the Visionaries Series seminars featuring representatives of Centrestage Elites design units and YDC VIP judge Martine Rose, as well as the Trend Talk Series featuring prominent industry experts from Omnilytics, WSGN and Euromonitor International.

To encourage wider public participation, the HKTDC has launched a citywide promotion “Hong Kong in Fashion”, comprising more than 90 activities over six weeks in partnership with upscale hotels, shopping malls, fashion retail shops, restaurants and design institutions. Centrestage will become “Openstage” on the final day and welcome public visitors aged 12 and above free of charge. A series of events, including a fashion parade, lifestyle tips-sharing and make-up demo will be arranged. (SV)
