Sri Lanka’s economy grew by 4.9 per cent year on year (YoY) in the second quarter (Q2) this year, according to official data.

The Q2 2025 gross domestic product (GDP) at constant prices was SLR 2,883,559 million (~$9.55 billion) compared to SLR 2,749,504 million (~$9.10 billion) in Q2 2024, the department of census and statistics under the ministry of finance, planning and economic development reported.

Industrial activity expanded by 5.8 per cent YoY in the quarter.
