Sun Chemical’s Danny Rich has bagged the Godlove award by the Inter-Society Color Council (ISCC). The Godlove award honours current or former ISCC members who have made long-term contributions in the field of colour. Sun Chemical is a producer of printing inks, coatings, pigments, polymers, liquid compounds, solid compounds, and application materials.

A member of the ISCC for 43 years, Rich currently is a member of the board of directors and has served as president of the board from 1998 to 2000 and as past president from 2000-2002. The ISCC is committed to advancing the field of colour as it relates to art, science, and industry through colour education, according to Sun Chemical.

“Danny has contributed so much of his innovative thinking, knowledge and expertise in colour to the industry and is truly dedicated to the ISCC and the educational opportunities it provides to its members. His incredible impact on the field of colour has had an important impact on Sun Chemical and the industry at large. I couldn’t be more pleased to see him being honoured by the ISCC,” Juanita Parris, the global director of application and material, analytical, polymer and colour at Sun Chemical said.

Rich has worked with Sun Chemical for 21 years as a senior colour physicist and currently leads the colour research laboratory team. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Idaho, a master’s in physics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and a doctorate in colour science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Rich has published his research on a wide range of colour science and engineering topics, including visual perception, instrumentation and mathematical modelling.

“I am truly honoured to receive this award from my friends and colleagues at the ISCC. I am proud to be a part of an organisation and industry that emphasises the importance of innovation and furthering education,” Rich said. (GK)
