Supply to meet demand: Indian Cotton Federation
The Indian Cotton Federation (ICF) is hopeful of the supply position meeting the demand for cotton at the current spindlage in mills and prices remaining steady for the time being. Farmers have evinced more interest in cotton in 2018-2019 due to normal monsoon, higher realisation compared to other cash crops and a rise in the minimum support price.

However, pink boll worm and pest attacks could result in a crop volume of 360-380 lakh bales (of 170 kg), ICF president J Thulasidharan said at the federation’s 39th annual general meeting in Coimbatore recently.

Liberal finance at marginal interest should be made available through a warehouse funding system by banking agencies, a news agency report quoted Thulasidharan, who was re-elected as president of the federation for 2018-19, as saying. (DS)
