Sympatex is presenting functional textiles with four apparel partners, Mammut, Lagoped, ON, and Zanier, at ISPO 2019. The trade fair for sports professionals is being held from February 3-6, 2019, at Munich, Germany. Sympatex is a leading provider of high-tech functional materials in clothing, footwear, accessories, and technical fields of application.

Sympatex helped Swiss-based Mammut bring the world’s first laser-welded down jacket to the market. For this innovation, which relies on a two-layer Sympatex laminate, Mammut is being recognised with an ISPO award. The fully waterproof Photics HS Thermo hooded jacket stands out not only because of its exceptional design, but also because the use of waterproof tapes is significantly reduced. The new Mammut laser fuse technology is what keeps the Sympatex shell completely sealed and waterproof, without any restrictions. The optimally breathable Sympatex membrane simultaneously provides uncompromising dryness and comfort. The jacket is entirely PFC-free, Sympatex said in a press release.

Innsbruck glove specialist Zanier has incorporated environmentally-friendly, completely recyclable membranes from Sympatex into its new models for the coming season. Thanks to the highly functional Sympatex membrane, the REVOLUTION.XSX fingered glove is not only 100 per cent water- and windproof, but optimally breathable as well. To top it off, high-quality goat leather and 4-way stretch contribute to ideal wearing comfort. Because it offers maximum mobility thanks to the fingered inner glove, the EVOLUTION.XSX is the perfect back-country companion. Together with the Primaloft insulation, the Sympatex membrane provides an extra portion of warmth.

Right after introducing its first Sympatex-based model, new customer and French manufacturer Lagoped was recognised with the ISPO Gold Award. The ski combination was made from 100 per cent recycled materials. Both the shell and lining are made from recycled PET bottles. The membrane is also made 100 per cent from Sympatex preconsumer recycling; in other words from Sympatex membrane waste that had to be disposed of in the past. The ski jacket EVE and matching functional pants SUPA are furthermore enhanced with an environmentally-friendly, fluorocarbon-free DWR. Both products are monomaterials and are well-suited for returning back to the closed textile loop at the end of their life cycle.

Swiss-based running specialist ON is introducing its first waterproof Sympatex running jacket at ISPO. This extremely lightweight model is made from a sustainable three-layer laminate manufactured with a climate-neutral, recyclable Sympatex membrane. The jacket will be available in on-line ‘Performance Apparel’ line-up for the 2019/2020 fall/winter season. In light of the indisputable and urgent need for radical measures aimed at rapidly curtailing climate impacts caused by the fashion industry, these products feature not only exceptional designs and innovative technologies. Their impact on the climate is significantly reduced. With this in mind, Sympatex illustrated through a representative outdoor clothing analysis that by itself, the selection of the membrane material has a decisive influence on the end product’s climate footprint.
