Taiwan's textile exports grow 1.56% in Jan-July 2018

According to the data, Taiwan exported $480.026 million worth of fibres during the January-July 2018 period, which accounted for 8.15 per cent of all textile and garment exports from the country.

Yarn exports earned $1.001 billion for Taiwan, while fabric exports fetched $3.862 billion. Yarn and fabrics accounted for 17.01 per cent and 65.56 per cent share respectively in all Taiwanese textile and apparel exports during the period under review.

Meanwhile, apparel exports were valued at $299.330 million, whereas madeups fetched $247.948 million for the country.

Vietnam and China were major markets for Taiwanese textiles with these countries importing goods worth $1.293 billion and $1.146billion, respectively, during the period under review.

Region-wise, the EU-28 nations imported $301.534 million worth of textiles and garments, accounting for 5.12 per cent share of all textile and clothing exports made by Taiwan during the period, while the US imported goods valued at $409.059 million, contributing 6.94 per cent to Taiwanese exports.

Bulk of Taiwanese textile and garment exports were destined to the neighbouring ASEAN region, which imported $2.255 billion worth of products, accounting for 38.28 per cent share in all Taiwanese exports.

During the same period, Taiwan’s textile and clothing imports stood at $2.052 billion, registering a growth of 9.69 per cent year-on-year. Nearly half or $1.010 billion worth of imports belonged to the apparel category, whereas fibre imports accounted for $321.462 million, yarn $232.430 million, fabric $297.249 million, and madeups $190.786 million.
