  • Claudio Taiana, owner of Tessitura Taiana, listed technological upgrades and sourcing recycled materials as the challenges of Italy's textile industry.
  • In an interview with Fibre2Fashion, he highlighted the role of automation and digitalisation in reshaping the industry.
  • Despite requiring significant investment, automation can lead to long-term savings.
The primary hurdles for Italy’s textile industry are technological upgrades in manufacturing plants along with the sourcing of recycled materials, according to Tessitura Taiana owner Claudio Taiana, who said that technologies adopted as well as the materials often made exclusively for the fabric company based on technical and scientific research are what make its products unique.

Taiana explained that savings resulting from automation ultimately help offset the initial costs of implementing such technologies, making them a valuable investment for a more sustainable and efficient industry.

In an exclusive interview with Fibre2Fashion, Taiana emphasised the transformative role of technology, particularly automation and digitalisation, in reshaping the woven fabrics industry.

“Automation in the textile industry requires significant investments, but these can lead to substantial savings in the long run. By automating processes, energy consumption is reduced, and the use of consumables and materials is optimised,” Taiana told F2F.
