Textile-garment park inaugurated in Ethiopia
President Omar al-Bashir of Sudan, President Ismail Omar of Djibouti and Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed recently inaugurated an textile-garment park in Jimma in the Oromia region of Ethiopia. The park was built on 1.5 million square meters at a cost of $61 million. The leaders also launched the construction of the 79 km Jimma–Agaro-Dedesa road project.

Ethiopia has built industry industrial parks in Addis Ababa, Hawassa, Mekelle, Adama, and Humera.

Although with limited success so far, the country is driving towards greater indutrialization to reach low-middle class economy by 2025, according to an Ethiopian newspaper report. (DS)
