The House of Representatives approved it with a 217-214 vote.
The vote wrapped up congressional work on 11 annual appropriations bills that fund government agencies and programmes till September 30, the last date of the US fiscal.
The last government shutdown, which continued for 43 days, affected much more government agencies.
The package, however, funds the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for only two weeks, till February 13.
Lawmakers in both the lower and upper houses of the US Congress who harbour strong differences on immigration enforcement reforms have until February 13 to negotiate a deal to keep DHS funded.
House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries cautioned that Democrats would not back any further temporary funding for DHS without substantial changes to its immigration operations, global newswires reported.
Speaker Mike Johnson said he expects the two sides can reach an agreement by the deadline.
