Vietnam's industrial production rises in Jan-Aug 2024

Vietnam's IIP grew by 8.8 per cent year on year (YoY) in the first eight months of the year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
The processing and manufacturing industry rose by 9.7 per cent YoY.
In August, the IIP increased by 2 per cent month on month (MoM) and 9.5 per cent YoY.
The textile sector saw a 13.4 per cent rise.

Vietnam’s index of industrial production (IIP) increased by 8.8 per cent year on year (YoY) over the first eight months this year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

The processing and manufacturing industry rose by 9.7 per cent YoY during the period.

The IIP increased by 2 per cent month on month (MoM) and by 9.5 per cent YoY in August, GSO said.

The IIP for the textile sector, at a 13.4-per cent rise between January and August, was higher than the figure in the same period last year.

Among the 63 centrally-administered cities and provinces in the country, 61 saw a growth in IIP over the past eight months, while the rest reported a fall, a domestic media outlet reported.

The number of workers in industrial enterprises as of August 11 increased by 0.9 per cent MoM and by 4.5 per cent YoY.
