"We believe that the value-maximising strategy is the one that creates shared value for customers, business and society."
In November 2016, the company had announced a new approach in advancing the key areas of opportunity, sustainability and community which consists of a 10-year vision to create shared value and underscores the importance of true integration into the company’s core business.
According to the report, the company has focused on means to increase economic opportunity in retail supply chain by supporting economic mobility in retail for Walmart associates and by investing in American jobs. Further, it has also taken the responsibility to enhance the sustainability of operations and value chain by reducing emissions, energy intensity and waste in operations and by improving sustainability in global value chains. The company also invests in strengthening local communities by strengthening disaster response and community preparedness, stated the report. (RR)
