The contributor base continues to grow as 5 firms join the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme this month. These contributors bring the total number of contributing organisations to 121 and representing nearly 60 per cent growth in the contributor base in 2018. This total consists of 3 categories - 27 Signatory Brands, 76 Value Chain Affiliates and 18 Associates.

By joining, these companies commit to the Programme’s vision for the widespread implementation of sustainable chemistry. The new contributors are Next, Tchibo, Hohenstein, Associazione Conciatori (Association of Tanners) and Partnership for Sustainable Textiles. They will help to drive innovation and best practices throughout the global supply chain.

Next is a UK based retailer which offers exciting, beautifully designed, high-quality clothing and homeware. This retailer sells Next and branded products through three main channels: Next Retail, a chain of around 530 stores in the UK and Eire; Next Online, a home shopping division with over 4.9 million active customers in the UK and overseas; Next International Retail, with around 200 mainly franchised stores.

Tchibo GmbH is a multichannel retailer operating in Central and Eastern Europe. Its product assortment includes textiles as well as services that change weekly.

Hohenstein is an accredited test laboratory and research partner. Its primary activity is testing and certifying textiles. In addition to these services, the company’s core competencies extend to applied research in the field of textile products and applications of all kinds.

The Associazione Conciatori (Association of Tanners) brings together about 150 companies from the entire Italian tanning district of Tuscany. It offers its member companies dialogue, representation, and the identification of policies. The association plays a central role in both the dynamics of the district and the entire leather industry supply chain.

The Partnership for Sustainable Textiles is a multi-stakeholder partnership consisting of companies, associations, non-governmental organisations, trade unions, standards organisations and the Federal German Government. The stakeholders formed the partnership in 2014 with the aim of achieving improvements along the entire textile supply chain. (RR)
