Zenitex, engaged in business of textile dyeing and processing, recently celebrated the World Forest Day and World Water Day by conducting field trip for students of Ghandhy College of Engineering and Technology, Surat.

Zenitex, the winner of national energy conservation award and the best industry award for three consecutive years, promoted energy conservation, green energy and environmental protection initiatives. This field trip included a tree plantation event at Zenitex campus where more than 30 trees were planted.

The activity also provided knowledge about various techniques implemented by Zenitex for water conservation and energy conservation, like rain water harvesting, drip irrigation, water scrubber, ETP, reduction in carbon emission, using recycled water for production and reduction in use of electricity.

“The trip was a mesmerising experience for the students and us alike. It gives us great happiness to be visiting such an industry and fills us with pride for the industry hails from our city of Surat in the state of Gujarat in our beloved country India. This industry has implemented energy conservation techniques in most of its work process,” said Ramesh G Patel, head of textile processing department, Ghandhy College of Engineering and Technology.

“Be it safety of workers, reduction of carbon emission, use of green energy such as wind mill generated electricity, reducing the use of electricity, recycling and reuse of wastewater and rain water harvesting. Such initiatives and implementations we had only heard of in multinational companies and nowhere was it heard in India. That is the reason we were amused and surprised to see these things happening in our backyard,” he said.

"The MoU was signed with Zenitex on March 29, 2016, in which the students participated in the social responsibility, community welfare activities and Go Green initiatives, and got training in Zenitex under the able leadership of its successful yet humble CEO Viral Desai,” he added. (NA)
