Small increase in number of hours worked in temp jobs

In the second quarter, the number of hours worked in temp jobs increased by 0.7 percent. Adjusted for seasonal effects, the index figure (2000=100) for the number of hours worked in stage A temp reached nearly 124, as against nearly 123 in the previous quarter.
The number of temp hours worked in stage A rose by less than 2 percent in the second quarter compared with the same period one year previously. In the record years 2005 and 2006, the number of hours worked in temp jobs grew by nearly 20 percent, but in 2007 the growth rate was reduced by half.
Stage A includes persons working for temp agencies on a contract basis, without regular terms of employment. In stage A, it is easier for both parties - employer and employee - to terminate the work contract than in the subsequent stages B and C.
