World leading textile machinery marketer & manufacturer company Saurer announces it acquires ERMAFA KUNSTSTOFFTECHNIK. – Extension of total solution range in chemical fibers.
With the acquisition of ERMAFA, Saurer extends its position as a Total Solution provider in the chemical fibers business through the acquisition of recycling activities which are becoming increasingly important:
On June 7, 2005, Saurer signed the contract to acquire a 100% stake in ERMAFA Kunststofftechnik Chemnitz GmbH & Co. KG from its management.
The acquisition takes effect retroactively from January 1. In the current year, ERMAFA Kunststofftechnik will generate sales of some EUR 6m. It will be integrated into the Saurer business unit Barmag.
ERMAFA Kunststofftechnik has been active in the plastics and rubber processing machinery business for 50 years and specializes in the domains of extrusion engineering. The company has extensive know-how and experience in these domains thanks to its broad installed capacity base.
A key segment of the product portfolio is polyester and polyolefin recycling plants which also allow the recycling of corresponding filament waste from Barmag plants. Customers have thus the possibility of complementing their spinning mills and/or ribbon tie production plants economically and ecologically.
Another competence of ERMAFA is in the domain of tire recycling, especially relating to reuse in tools of rubber powder from used tires. These plants are complementary to Barmag's tire cord business.
