Chinese company to invest $10.32 million in BEPZA Economic Zone

Wing Tai Garments (Bangladesh) Co Ltd, a Chinese company, has signed a land lease agreement with the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) to establish a ready-made garment (RMG) manufacturing industry in the BEPZA Economic Zone (BEPZA EZ) at Mirsharai, Chattogram. The agreement was signed at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka, and the company’s proposed investment of $10.32 million is expected to create employment opportunities for 3,158 Bangladeshi nationals.

Wing Tai Garments (Bangladesh) will produce a diverse range of apparel, including knitwear items such as ladies’, kids’ and men’s tops, T-shirts, trousers, and shorts, with an annual production target of 1.56 million pieces. The company will also manufacture woven garments, including ladies’, kids’ and men’s jackets, pants, and shorts, with an annual production target of 4.01 million pieces, BEPZA said in a press release.

Ashraful Kabir, member (Investment Promotion), signed the agreement on behalf of BEPZA, while Li Qingqi, general manager of Wing Tai Garments (Bangladesh), signed on behalf of the investing company.

BEPZA chairman Major General Mohammad extended a warm welcome to the investor, emphasising BEPZA's unwavering dedication to providing seamless support and a robust environment for businesses to thrive.
