Dhaka to resolve pending issues with India via regular communication

Bangladesh expects to resolve outstanding issues with India through regular communication, the country’s Home Minister, Salahuddin Ahmed, said after a courtesy call by Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma.

Dhaka sought collaboration “on the basis of mutual interest, dignity and benefit” and expressed hope that bilateral relations would continue on the principle of sovereign equality, the minister was cited as saying by domestic media reports.

The minister stressed the need to prevent border killings.

India had not fully resumed operations after its consulates and visa offices came under attack over the past one and a half years, Salahuddin said, assuring a gradual reopening.

The meeting also discussed boosting trade and strengthening overall bilateral co-operation.
