PriceDekho unveils unified price comparison Mobile App

One of India's leading price comparison and shopping sites, PriceDekho.com launches the PriceDekho App to enable online shopping on smart phones and tablets.

The launch of the App is the logical extension of PriceDekho's steady growth as a site that has been offering online shoppers the advantage of easy comparison of product prices across different online stores before making any purchase decision. The mobile app offers online shoppers practically all the features that are available on the PriceDekho site when accessed on a PC or Notebook.

The launch of this Android App is a positive development in the fast growing apps market as it offers features that significantly improve the online shopping experience on smart phones and tablets. As a site that offers comparison shopping, PriceDekho enables users to compare prices across scores of online stores, and check specifications and product details, find deals and coupons that help them take informed and safe purchase decisions. With more than 10,000 downloads already, the PriceDekho app has quickly become a go-to shopping app.

PriceDekho features more than 100 participating online sellers. Sellers find that PriceDekho is a new and exciting mobile shopping experience, providing them with the opportunity to increase sales by reaching out to thousands of existing and new customers.

The number of smart phone users in India have been growing exponentially over the last few years. The Financial Times estimated the growth of smart phone sales in India to be over 160% against 86% in China and 19% in the US; however, it is also true that the Indian growth is calculated from a comparatively lower base of around 3%.

Nonetheless, such growth is impressive. According to a Google research, reported in the Economic Times, the number of Indians using smart phones to access internet is more than the number of Americans who use smart phones for the same purpose.

Rediff.com, quoting GetJar, a top app store, stated that, globally, the download of apps across industries and categories was over 7 billion in 2009 and it was estimated that by 2012 the figure would cross 50 billion.

Around the same time, the global market for apps is expected to be worth over USD 17 billion. As India replaces Japan to become the third largest market for smart phones, the use of apps would also keep pace with the growth in the number of smart phone users. In the circumstances, it appears that PriceDekho has launched its android app at just the right time.
