MICROS Systems, Inc., a leading provider of information technology solutions for the hospitality and retail industries, and PayPal, a leader in online and mobile in store payments, announced a new strategic global collaboration to integrate PayPal into MICROS’ widely deployed POS platforms to enable better payments experiences for consumers – whether using a card, online, mobile phone, checking in to pay, or by simply typing in a mobile number and PIN.

Central to this collaboration, multiple MICROS hospitality and retail point-of-sale (POS) platforms used in hundreds of thousands of merchant locations around the world will soon offer the ability to seamlessly work with the innovative PayPal mobile application.

In addition to integrating PayPal's payment methods in new releases of most of MICROS' range of POS and online platforms, the companies are making it easier for hundreds of thousands of business, large and small, with existing MICROS systems to offer PayPal at their business.

As part of the collaboration, MICROS will establish a Center of Excellence to provide subject matter expertise to support the building, activation and collaborate to optimize merchant and consumer experience.

“Leveraging the capabilities and infrastructure provided by our MICROS Payment Gateway technology, we were able to quickly integrate PayPal with several popular MICROS hospitality and retail POS platforms, and have the ability to support a mass scale deployment of the solution to merchant locations around the world,” stated Michael L. Russo, MICROS Chief Technology Officer, Food & Beverage.

“PayPal is thrilled to collaborate with industry leaders like MICROS to deliver unique and useful experiences for both merchants and consumers,” stated Don Kingsborough, Vice President, Retail Services, PayPal.  “MICROS provides PayPal a broader and deeper reach into hospitality and retail verticals, where they are tremendously strong, and where opportunities are limitless to build amazing payments experience at the point of sale."

“Through the PayPal mobile experience, millions of active PayPal mobile users can easily locate near-by MICROS clients that enable PayPal online, or in-store,” stated John E. Gularson, Executive Vice President, MICROS eCommerce.  “We are happy to provide our clients with yet another innovative way to accommodate the digital wallet consumer, and we look forward to strengthening and expanding our relationship with PayPal.”
