This partnership takes advantage of Borderfree’s newly launched Magento extension, which makes the process of integrating with the Borderfree platform easier and more cost-effective for existing customers of Magento, a provider of scalable ecommerce solutions. Within hours after launching with Borderfree, Planet Blue received its first international orders from customers in Australia and Taiwan.
“We’re very excited about our partnership with Borderfree and the opportunity to extend the Southern California lifestyle to more customers around the world,” said Eugene Kang, VP of Ecommerce at Planet Blue. “Borderfree’s new Magento extension made the integration process seamless, quickly allowing us to be able to provide a first-rate customer experience to shoppers around the world. Our technology partner Corra, was also instrumental in making this implementation a success.”
Prior to partnering with Borderfree, Planet Blue used an internal solution to ship orders to customers in 39 countries, but the complications of international transactions and expensive shipping rates that did not include prepaid duties and taxes proved problematic for both internal staff and international shoppers.
“The barriers to doing business globally are dissolving and retailers, whether multi-national brands or local boutiques, are facing both opportunity and demand to enable transactions for international customers,” said Michael DeSimone, CEO of Borderfree.
“Companies like Planet Blue recognized early on that providing the same service and brand experience to all customers regardless of location is the key to growth, and we’re thrilled to partner with them to make that happen.”
