Fibre2fashion & Infor, a USA based company dealing in fashion software suites organized a workshop “Fashionomics 2014 – The New Economics of Fashion” on February 5, 2014 at New Delhi in which top officials from big apparel manufacturing companies and brands participated to discuss the economics of fashion in Global perspectives and specific to India as well. 
 
This half a day workshop attended by more than 30 delegates, deliberated upon key aspects of challenges for apparel, footwear, home textiles, and accessories segments in terms of logistics & supply chain, global competition, labour cost, & adoption of technology. 
 
This only-by-invite workshop had delegates from the who’s who of the Indian apparel & footwear industry like Mr Debasish Gupta, Head of Marketing at Marks and Spencer India, Mr Anant Chandola, Director - New Businesses at Benetton India Pvt Ltd, Mr Dharmender Dabral, Director - Marketplace at Jabong, Mr Harminder Bedi, Production Head at BIBA Apparels, Mr HR  Sapra, Senior VP at Relaxo Footwears Ltd, Mr Shalabh, GM (Training) at Matrix Clothing, Mr Ashish Dhir from Wisedge Consulting, Dr Sibichan Mathew, Chairperson at NIFT and others.  
 
Among the major points of discussion at the workshop were – 
1) What impacts the business of fashion from the perspectives of supply chain, sourcing, labor cost and overall profitability perspective? 
2) The world keeps changing, the economy keeps changing, and business models keep evolving - what's your next move to become sustainable and profitable. This means new challenges, new opportunities and plenty of tough decisions to be made. 
3) Challenges posed from the continuing stagnation of US and European import markets. 
 
Mr Ashish Dhir from Wisedge Consulting explained retail challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. In detail, he shared insights into supply chain challenges that the sector faces in India and Globally. Dr. Sibichan Mathew briefed about new challenges from global economic perspective and how one should equip oneself to tackle the tough times which lie ahead.
 
Overall the workshop was found quite interactive and informative and these top officials left on a lot more wiser note at the end of the workshop.
