FORTUNE describes its “Most Admired” list as “the definitive report card on corporate reputations.” The survey is compiled by the Hay Group, and is based on the Fortune 1000 – the 1,000 largest U.S. companies ranked by revenue, and the top foreign companies operating in the United States. This year, more than 3,700 top managers and analysts representing 622 companies across 65 industries were surveyed for the effort.
Participants were asked to rate companies in their respective industries based on eight attributes: innovation, people management, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment and quality of products/services.
