Dassault leads PLM software market for 3rd consecutive year

Dassault Systèmes (DS), a world leader in 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, announced that it has been named the leader in several categories of CIMdata's newly published “2008 PLM Market Analysis Report.” CIMdata, a global consulting and research firm, annually reviews the PLM market, issuing comprehensive analyses that detail the industry's investment changes, trends and market leaders in the previous year.
CIMdata's 2007 PLM market assessment was revealed late last month at the company's Vendor Forum in Detroit. In the report, CIMdata ranked Dassault Systèmes the leader in overall PLM industry market presence among the industry's Mindshare Leaders – rankings which reflect the company's leadership in both the “mainstream PLM” and more expansive “comprehensive PLM” market sectors.
CIMdata defines a mindshare leader as the company end-users most readily identified with the term “PLM.” It is Dassault Systèmes' third straight year at the top of the industry mindshare rankings.
“We are extremely proud to be recognized by CIMdata as the PLM industry leader for the third consecutive year,” said Pascal Daloz, executive vice president, strategy & marketing, Dassault Systèmes. “Our continued success is a testament to the dedication of our people, across all of our brands, to provide customers with the leading technology and solutions needed to take world-class products from idea to market.”
The company was also recognized by CIMdata as the mindshare leader in overall PLM revenues, both in direct revenues and market presence (through partners) and the mindshare leader in PLM software revenues. Based on CIMdata's results, for Mainstream PLM Dassault Systèmes leads its closest Mainstream PLM mindshare challenger by $1 billion in revenue and five points of market share. CATIA, Dassault Systèmes flagship multi-discipline design authoring solution, also continues to enjoy a dominant market position.
“It was an exciting year for the PLM software industry, as growth exceeded expectations across the board, more and more mid-market organizations began to understand the value of PLM and companies such as Dassault Systèmes continued to find success in non-traditional vertical markets like life sciences, apparel and electronics,” said Ed Miller, president, CIMdata. “Dassault Systèmes continues to solidify its stance in the market as both the leader and the innovator.”
