Experts urge footwear sector to embrace IT

After several years of rapid development, the shoes-manufacturing sector of Jingjiang city, Fujian Province has played a very important role in Chinese footwear industry.
Recently, the experts of the local shoes-industrial science and technology achievement center, stressed that country's shoe design and development must focus of four key elements.
Firstly, authorities needed to draft new environmental-protection law for the footwear industry. It was then the responsibility of the shoes-making enterprises to develop new technology that will help them meet the requirements of this law.
Secondly, China must concentrate on high performance materials, to ensure the production of high-quality shoes which reap better profits.
Thirdly, the use of all kinds of hi-tech information technology as well as software like CAD/CAM, PDM should be encouraged.
Finally, since there is shortage of high-quality cow skin and hides in China, footwear units need to discover new and alternative raw materials through advanced technology and processing.
