The Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC), in partnership with the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), has begun accepting applications for this year's CapVenture Program.

Now in it its second year, CapVenture is a unique program that educates and equips CEOs and executives of early-stage companies for smarter and more productive capitalization of their businesses.

CapVenture has been incredibly successful; five participants have already raised capital and are either members of or applicants to ATDC.

The early application deadline, which entitles companies to a $50 discount, is June 19.

CapVenture prepares executives for the opportunity to meet angel and venture investors, culminating at the Program Celebration and Venture Forum on October 7, 2008.

Technology companies selected for this year's CapVenture will be guided through extensive workshops on fundraising preparation, an elevator pitch exercise and review, executive summary review, investor communications and practice investor pitches.

The top-rated CapVenture companies will also have an opportunity to join ATDC and Georgia Tech VentureLab on October 15 to present at Venture Atlanta, Georgia's largest venture capital conference.

Companies participating in CapVenture experience a greater likelihood of success, with the 2007 class receiving 56 venture firm inquiries upon their graduation.

Several of last year's participants have already reaped rewards, with Inquus successfully winning two SBIR grants and both FluxMedia and Global Crypto receiving financing.

SoloHealth was a participant in last year's program, and is the creator of EyeSite vision testing kiosks. CEO Bart Foster is emphatic about the value of participating in CapVenture.

“The CapVenture course was phenomenal for me and my company, and a catalyst to get us to where we are now,” he said.

“Being affiliated with this program offers SoloHealth a treasure of collective experience and leadership that we can draw from as we take our business to the next level.”

Coaches at this year's CapVenture will include James Davis, former CEO of TerraGo; Scott Geller, president and CEO of Invistics; Dave Gould, operating partner of Technology Operators Partners (TOP) and former chairman and CEO of Witness Systems.

Others include Sanjay Parekh, founder and former CEO of Digital Envoy and founder of Startup Riot; and Pete Privateer, former VP of Sales America and ISS/IBM, as well as former president & COO of Pelican Security, which was acquired by Microsoft.

CapVenture kicks off in late August and will conclude on October 7, 2008. Programs will take place one weekday evening each week from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. at the ATDC headquarters in Technology Square.

The fee for CEO participants is $399 for TAG members ($100 discount); a second company exec can also join for an additional fee if that person is critical to fundraising.

All applicants to CapVenture will receive access to valuable fundraising tools and will receive an invitation to a fundraising workshop.

Additional sponsorship opportunities are available. Existing sponsors include HIG Ventures, Noro-Moseley Partners, Imlay Investments, DLA Piper, Porter, Keadle & Moore LLP, RBC Centura, and Habif, Arogeti & Wynne, LLP. In-kind marketing partner opportunities are also available.
