Webtogs to implement Bazaarvoice Ratings & Reviews technology

Webtogs.co.uk, the outdoor clothing and equipment retailer founded and run by e-commerce entrepreneurs James Balmain and Philip Wilkinson who founded Kelkoo uk, will add a ratings and reviews solution to build its customer community and drive sales.

Social commerce technology company Bazaarvoice has been appointed by Webtogs to implement and launch the service within the next four weeks.

“Our vision for the Webtogs brand is to start evolving towards a single online destination where people can not only buy products but also get great quality advice and product recommendations,” said Philip Wilkinson, co-Founder and Marketing Director of Webtogs. “User reviews and Q&A sessions with experts and other shoppers all help customers narrow down choices and give confidence in their final purchase selection.

Impartial advice and product reviews from our community of past visitors and tog experts will instil customer confidence, increase customer retention and in turn drive sales.”

Wilkinson continued: “Owning our own customer content is also important, which is why we chose Bazaarvoice's platform. The choice between building this ourselves and outsourcing it was a difficult one, but the pros of using the expertise of Bazaarvoice outweighed the cons.'

Webtogs, which launched in March last year, will alert its existing customer base by email when the reviews capability launches and invite those who've made purchases to submit opinions.

Bazaarvoice supplies its Ratings & Reviews solution to high-street retailers including Comet, Early Learning Centre, Halfords and over 325 other brands worldwide. Its product portfolio includes Ratings & Reviews, customer-to-customer helpdesk Ask & Answer, and Stories, where customers can share brand experiences with fellow shoppers.

Bazaarvoice (bazaarvoice.co.uk) is a social commerce technology company. It helps over 325 brands globally including Boots, Comet, Halfords, Wickes, Thomas Cook, QVC and Boden to harness and amplify customer online word of mouth.

Webtogs (Webtogs.co.uk), the outdoor gear and clothing e-commerce site, is a young startup that began life in early 2008 selling a wide range of products in the aspirational outdoor lifestyle space. Founded by seasoned e-commerce entrepreneurs Philip Wilkinson (shopgenie, kelkoo uk) & James Balmain, it has gone on to sign up every single major outdoor brand in that time, including Icebreaker, North Face, Keen, Mountain Equipment and Berghaus.
