IRS announces PG (Diploma) in Visual Merchandising & Store Design

Keeping pace with the changing trends in the retail industry, Indian Retail School (IRS), country's premier retail institution, has introduced a new programme which is India's First Post Graduate Diploma in Visual Merchandising and Store Design.

This one year course is for graduating students looking for a specialized career in visual merchandising and store design in retail, and for retail professionals aiming for movement within the industry and aspiring for better prospects in the industry. This course has unique training modules including state-of-the-art software that will help students in trying out various VM combinations for the best output.

The Visual Merchandising & Store Design Course has been designed with the main objective of helping students master the techniques of space planning & store conceptualization and implementation, understanding the process of visual merchandising department in both large and small stores, developing core design strategies for creating retail atmosphere and honing merchandising and operational skills along with polishing interpersonal skills.

The Post- Graduate Programme in Visual Merchandising & Store Design is a one year programme that has three levels constituting of 700 hours of contact classes and 350 hours of project work. The classes will be conducted 6 days in a week in each trimester except in the last trimester where the students devote majority time on dissertation and live project.

The 1st batch starts from 30th of July 2009, eligibility criterion being Graduate from any stream. The admission for the course begins on 15th May 2009. Based on the application, the students who are found eligible will need to qualify in an entrance examination conducted by Indian Retail School, followed by an interview. Admissions will be strictly on merit, judged on performance in the written examination and the interview.
