TALLY WEiJL chooses Cognimatics TrueView People Counter

TALLY WEiJL, a world leading clothing retailer from Switzerland, chooses TrueView People Counter from Cognimatics for measuring visitor traffic to all their stores worldwide. Visitor traffic is considered to be one of the most fundamental metrics in retail. It is used to allocate staff effectively, compute how many of the visitors are actually buying, compare performance of different stores in a retail chain, and more. The product is a fully automatic, cost efficient and very easy to use.

Following a rigorous testing process, TrueView People Counter™ was chosen for supplying the solution for the fashion retailer's more than 550 stores in 30 countries around the world. To secure that the best possible solution is shipped to TALLY WEiJL a team of three partners was set up for the project.

By using TrueView People Counter™ TALLY WEiJL enjoys a solution where the counting and data processing is done by ceiling mounted digital IP cameras from Axis Communications. The cameras are located at the stores entrances and exits and keeps track on the number of visitors passing in and out.

“We are very happy to be selected as the supplier of cameras to this project. Our cameras are well suited for this kind of on-board applications such as people counting from Cognimatics. These non surveillance applications are definitely becoming more and more attractive in the retail segment”, says Johan Åkesson, Business development director for retail at Axis Communications

All video processing and counting is done by the individual camera making the solution reliable, fast and very easy to use. As a security feature the data is stored locally on the camera for one month and can be collected over a network remotely. The solution is practically infinitely scalable and standard camera equipment is the only hardware needed for the complete setup. Besides Cognimatics, the partners in delivering the solution to Tally-Weijl are Axis Communications, the world leading network camera manufacturer from Sweden, and Data Components, a leading distributor from Germany.
