IMB – World of Textile Processing has been the world's leading procurement and information platform for all technologies, research and development results for over 37 years.

In Cologne, the "who's who" of the industry presents the world's most comprehensive range of machinery, plant, control and production technologies, including IT, for the entire textile supply chain. As a high-end event it is traditionally a platform for high technology and for the launch of the latest developments at the peak of innovation.

The international mix of exhibitors and visitors is naturally extremely high, as is the quality on display. Visitors to IMB are accustomed to finding highly focussed, seamless offerings throughout the entire textile supply chain. The focus of the event is on the processing of flexible materials. This is where experts have been meeting experts, users meeting providers and decision-makers meeting decision-makers for decades. Visitors include representatives from the clothing industry, the core business of IMB, as well as technical textile processing industries.

In 2002, the IMB Forum was created to reflect the desire of IT exhibitors and visitors for a shorter development cycle. The accompanying programme of conferences and talks provided additional stimuli and insights into the highly specialist offerings, and also opened up interdisciplinary perspectives.

With IMB Select 2010, whose core concept stems from the IMB Forum, the event organiser Koelnmesse is now looking to the future. This reorientation of the event is aptly described by the subtitle "Fashion & Textiles: IT Systems, Services and Strategies". The new hall layout, which is given plenty of space in hall 9, positions the exhibitors' stands in line with the textile supply chain from sheep to shop, from sourcing to POS. Consequently, in addition to management and process control tools, there are also products from the areas of CAD/CAM and cutting, as well as logistics solutions, which are employed at all interfaces within the supply chain right through to the retail trade. The event devotes particular attention to the theme of interface problems. The aim here is to demonstrate solutions that help to create vertical structures to replace the classic separation of industry and trade.

IMB Select, with its high level of specialisation in information and communication technology, and IMB – World of Textile Processing thus represent unique international platforms for high technology for the global clothing industry and the textile supply chain.

IT and technology – the double act for the future!
