Leading trading company selects SuccessFactors

SuccessFactors, Inc. announced that ITOCHU Corporation, a leading global Japanese trading organization with approximately 150 overseas bases in 74 countries, has selected SuccessFactors to align its talent and provide its executives greater visibility across the global organization.

SuccessFactors and ITOCHU's subsidiary, CAPLAN Corporation, a general human resources and outsourcing company, have also entered into a reseller agreement, making CAPLAN SuccessFactors' first SuccessSales Partner among Japanese general trading companies. This partnership will help deliver business alignment and people performance via the SuccessFactors Business Execution (BizX) Suite to mid-market and enterprise Japanese companies, as well as ITOCHU's 700-plus subsidiaries, by helping them align employees to their corporate strategy, arming them for success and inciting them to reach their potential.

ITOCHU is one of many implementations and partnerships SuccessFactors has kicked off in Asia Pacific recently, as SuccessFactors has seen tremendous growth and market momentum in the region, with a compounded annual growth rate of 168 percent over the last five years.

At ITOCHU, SuccessFactors will initially be implemented as a pilot project consisting of 2,000 users across ITOCHU and including CAPLAN, with future plans of rolling out the solution to 300,000 users in the next three years through collaboration with ITOCHU's global subsidiaries. At CAPLAN specifically, the BizX Suite will be utilized to efficiently carry out strategic allocation of human resources following the recent October merger of two JAL Group companies.

With the effects of globalization, Japan's business culture is shifting to include corporate activities abroad, emphasizing the importance of strategic human resources management. To gain better visibility in ITOCHU's numerous overseas operations, they developed a project called "Frontier 2010," a mid-term management strategy to establish a global talent database along with a succession management system. SuccessFactors BizX solution will be the single platform for ITOCHU's internal global talent management strategy.

In addition to the financial savings, we want to gain insight into our highest performing people so we can reward them properly. We are partnering with SuccessFactors to provide this leading BizX solution to mid-size and enterprise Japanese companies across the region."
