Akamai to accelerate contents of Diesel website

Akamai Technologies Inc, the leading provider of cloud optimization services, announced that Diesel, the international lifestyle brand, has selected Akamai's Dynamic Site Accelerator and Media Delivery solutions to accelerate and distribute the contents of its website to its worldwide customers.

With over 5000 outlets in 80 countries, Diesel needed to guarantee all of its global customers a top quality online experience when shopping on its website. For this reason, the retailer selected the Akamai's Dynamic Site Accelerator and Media Delivery solutions to support the launch of its brand new online store, which went live in February, 2010. The new website was launched together with the "Be Stupid" campaign to present the spring-summer 2010 collection, aiming to increase visibility, website traffic and engage its global audience.

Soon after the launch of the "Be Stupid" campaign, the traffic on website went up more than double, reaching over 60,000 daily contacts. The excellent results were underpinned and supported by the use of the two Akamai solutions. Dynamic Site Accelerator allows Diesel to distribute the website's content worldwide quickly and effectively, while the Akamai Media Delivery solution delivers Diesel's rich media content all over the world without slowdowns, helping Diesel to offer its customers the best online experience at anytime of the day.

By relying on Akamai's global network, Diesel could guarantee the maximum usability of its website without further investing on internal resources. With more than 73,000 servers deployed in dozens of countries around the world, Akamai's solutions are designed to improve Diesel's site performances by distributing content on Akamai servers and redirecting requests to avoiding congestion points over the network; thus assuring high performance and speed at any condition.

"Fashion brands' websites typically include rich media content, like catwalk videos and collections images," stated Henri D'Oriola, Director Southern Europe, Akamai Technologies. "Diesel is a prestigious and internationally recognized brand and has the need to offer all the people interested in its style a top quality online experience, with no slowdowns. Now, thanks to Akamai's technology, all Diesel fans around the world can fully enjoy and dive into the brand's philosophy."

Diesel previously adopted Akamai's solutions in April 2009 to accelerate the website content for Diesel:U:Music's website, a global, social and interactive project aimed to put bands in touch with their fans through music contests and live concerts worldwide. It was the great results achieved with Diesel:U:Music that convinced Diesel to further extend its collaboration with Akamai, providing the pivotal technical solutions to underpin the success of its new website.
