“There have been some job losses and this has occurred because the wool industry is getting smaller, not because of the global financial crisis and there have probably been more job losses in retail stores and wool processors because of reduced demand. The Australian Veterinary Association (AVA) recognises the welfare implications of mulesing of sheep. However, the AVA advocates that alternatives for preventing breech strike, should be sought as part of a humane sheep husbandry procedure", he concluded by saying.
