North Indian cotton yarn stable amid weak demand, payment constraint

Cotton yarn prices in north India remained stable despite spinning mills raising mill-gate rates by ₹* per kg, as market demand was weak and payment flow remained slow.
Yarn trading in Delhi and Ludhiana continued at previous levels, while recycled yarn prices in Panipat were also steady amid worker shortages linked to Bihar elections.
Cotton prices eased due to higher arrivals and limited mill buying.

The Ludhiana market did not witness any significant change in cotton yarn prices. Although mills raised their selling rates by &#****;* per kg, the market has yet to fully absorb the increase. A trader from Ludhiana told Fibre2Fashion, “Mills are trying to sustain this price rise to improve their margins. Payment flow remains slow, but mills want to sell their stocks at higher prices.” Cotton yarn procurement for summer garmenting has begun, albeit slowly, but demand is expected to pick up in the coming weeks.

In Ludhiana, ** count cotton combed yarn was sold at &#****;***-*** (~$*.**-*.**) per kg (inclusive of GST); ** and ** count combed yarn were traded at &#****;***-*** (~$*.**-*.**) per kg and &#****;***-*** (~$*.**-*.**) per kg, respectively; and carded yarn of ** count was noted at &#****;***-*** (~$*.**-*.**) per kg today, according to trade sources.
