The most important point to consider in calculating fancy yarn counts is the shortening of yarn lengths during the twisting phase. These shortening rates can be different for each yarn participating in the twist. With a yarn at Nm 30 and a shortening rate of 2%, two yarns at Nm 20 and with a shortening rate of 10% will be folded on top of each other to obtain a fancy yarn.
