The production of technical textiles and nonwovens has been growing in China, in step with increasing local demand for this product range. Specific customized machinery for this sector has thus also become a necessity. In Guangzhou, Italian machinery manufacturers will be presenting their most advanced technology for the production of technical textiles and nonwovens.

The technology symposium dedicated to Italian technology for technical textiles and nonwovens and organized by ACIMIT - the Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers, and the ICE – the Italian Trade Promotion Agency for the promotion and the internationalization of Italian companies, will be held this coming October 10th in Guangzhou, China.

Technical textiles and nonwovens are a constantly growing sector for China’s textile industry (accounting for over 20% of manufacturing production). Indeed, since the start of 2013, the sector’s value added growth has been the highest within the Chinese textile industry.

“Demand in China for technical textiles and nonwoven is growing rapidly,” explains Raffaella Carabelli, President of Acimit. “Investments in infrastructure, the filtration sector, as well as the medical and personal hygiene sectors are pushing Chinese demand for technical textiles and nonwovens for the coming years”.

“The symposium to be held in Guangzhou aims to promote awareness among Chinese operators of the validity of Italian technology,” states Carabelli. “In the province of Guandong, there are around 500 companies operating in the sector (above all nonwovens); this is an important market for our manufacturers”.

The symposium in Guangzhou will be held just a few months after the one presented in Nanjing, and will focus on sustainable textile technologies. “A clear signal of the attention we’re affording the Chinese market”, specifies Acimit’s president. “Despite falling Italian sales (-24% over the first five months of the year), the Chinese market still represents the primary export destination for Italy’s textile machinery manufacturers (130 million euros for the first five months of the year, equal to 20% of Italian exports for the sector)”.

The following Italian manufacturers will be present in Guangzhou: Biancalani, Bianco, Cormatex, Dell’Orco & Villani, Itema, Loptex, Roj.

The Italian companies participating in the symposium are just a few of those producing machinery for the technical textiles and nonwovens sector in Italy. ACIMIT estimates that over one hundred Italian textile machinery manufacturers are active in this specific sector (of these, about fifty produce machinery for nonwovens).

During the course of the symposium, Chinese operators will thus have an opportunity to become acquainted with the latest technology innovations for various specific phases of the production process. By consulting the section of the Acimit website dedicated to technical textiles and nonwovens (Technical Textiles), they will find information on the ideal technology partner to provide them with the necessary solutions for their specific needs.

ACIMIT represents an industrial sector comprising around 300 manufacturers (employing close to 12,000 people), exporting machinery for an overall value of roughly 2.4 billion euros, of which 80% are exported. The quality of Italy’s textile technology is highlighted by the large number of countries in which Italian machinery is sold, with approximately 130 nations worldwide.
