Kordsa Global has inaugurated its second facility on Java Island in Indonesia, which will produce tire cord fabrics and polyester yarn, by investing $100 million in the project.

Kordsa Global has built an 18,000 tons of tire cord fabric plant and a 14,000 tons latest generation polyester HMLS yarn plant and together these plants will employ around 200 people.

This new project is the biggest investment in capacity for Kordsa Global outside Turkey and has made Kordsa a leading global player,” Mehmet Pekarun, chairman at Kordsa Global said.

Cenk Alper, Kordsa Global CEO said, “If you consider the total product and service package we are customising for our customers, we believe that we are the champion in value per unit of cost.”

“The new polyester and tire cord fabric plants in Indonesia are very good example of this principle,” he added.

Its new TCF facility has a new design with its process and engineering teams targeting for environmental friendly and cost efficient products and processes.

“The energy use of our new dipping line is lower than a traditional line and can also produce like high adhesion retention technologies, and RF Free (recorcynol formaldehyte free) dipping technologies,” Alper informed.

“The process quality and monitoring improvements in our new weaving and dipping lines guarantee defect free fabric quality,” he noted.

Kordsa Global with headquarters in Istanbul, Turkey operates in 8 countries across 5 continents and employs around 4000 people with its sales figure reaching TL 1.5 billion in 2013.

Kordsa Global, a world leading nylon 6.6 and polyester industrial fibre producer started in 1973 with a tire cord factory investment in Izmit, Turkey.

The Company, in which Haci Ömer Sabanci Holding has a 91.1 per cent shareholding, exhibited continuous growth and with its global production capacities and continues to lead the sector. (AR)
