BASF partners Gustav Grolman to market Baxxodur in Europe

BASF and Gustav Grolman GmbH are collaborating on marketing of amine-based curing agents of the Baxxodur brand in Europe.

Grolman will initially market the chemical in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Ireland and Great Britain, specifically for use in epoxy resin based applications.

Applications include thermosetting laminates, highly resistant floor coatings, corrosion protection varnish and composite materials.

“The products are used in the construction industry as well as in the automotive, marine, aerospace and industrial applications manufacturing,” BASF said in a press release.

“The partnership fits very well into our Baxxodur sales & distribution strategy,” said Oliver Cullmann, vice president, specialty amines at BASF's Intermediates division.

“As one of Europe's largest distributors of specialty chemicals, Grolman also has the right structure and market acceptance to serve customers efficiently,” Cullmann added.

“The high-quality curing agent components made by BASF, supplements our product range of resins, accelerators, flame retardants, fibre and filler wetting agents,” Dirk Grolman, MD at Grolman Gruppe said.

“This extends not only for the thermosetting industry, but also allows us to keep expanding our strong position in the coating industry,” he observed.

Under the Baxxodur brand, BASF markets a diversified spectrum of amine-based curing components for the professional processing of epoxy resins in addition to epoxy resins and curing agents.

Grolman Gruppe markets special chemical products of well-known international producers and has warehouses close to the customers to ensure efficient distribution of additives, fillers, dyes and adhesives.

It serves customers in the dye and coating, adhesive, sealing compound, printing ink, rubber, plastic, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and paper industries.

The BASF portfolio ranges from chemicals, plastics, performance products and plant protection products all the way to oil and gas.

In 2014, BASF achieved sales of over €74 billion and at the end of the year employed about 113,000 people and is listed in the stock exchanges of Frankfurt, London and Zurich. (AR)
