US' First Quality names chief innovation officer for absorbent hygiene

First Quality has announced that Tonny De Beer has joined the company as chief product innovation officer for the absorbent hygiene division. In addition to leading all Absorbent Hygiene innovation initiatives, De Beer is also heading the division’s quality and regulatory functions. He reports to Allen Bodford, president of the absorbent hygiene division.

De Beer joins First Quality from PFNonwovens Group, where most recently he served as chief product, technology and sustainability officer. He brings more than 25 years of experience in innovation and R&D at global organisations including AstraZeneca and Procter & Gamble. De Beer holds both a master’s degree and PhD in chemistry from Utrecht University in the Netherlands, the company said in a press release.

“De Beer’s experience and leadership is a tremendous asset as First Quality continues to invest in technology and innovations that benefit both people and our planet,” said Bodford. “He will be instrumental in our sustainability efforts and our commitment to bringing the latest innovations to the North American market.”

First Quality’s absorbent hygiene division produces adult incontinence products, diapers, training and youth pants, period pads and baby wipes for healthcare and retail channels. Its operations include 4 manufacturing locations across the US and Canada. The company recently announced a new round of absorbent hygiene investments, which includes expanding capacity and advancing key innovations.

“Joining First Quality is an opportunity to work with a team dedicated to creating the highest quality products for our customers and, ultimately, improving the lives of the people who use those products,” said De Beer. “With ongoing growth and investment, this is an exciting moment to lead innovation and continue to improve the sustainability of our products and processes.”
