Green Initiatives

We believe that climate change is an inconvenient truth but not an inevitable phenomenon. Being one of the world’s largest producers of denim, we realise that our environmental responsibility too is the largest. We have embedded green thinking within our manufacturing and our first line of control is our production line.

Water efficiency

  • Our Santej facility is a Zero Discharge plant that recycles 94% of the water which is then reused in our processes.
  • We have joined hands with the Ratan Tata Trust to implement rainwater harvesting in Akola, Maharashtra.

Energy efficiency

  • Our 2.8 MW capacity windmill at Porbandar contributes to partially offset our consumption of grid-based electricity at Naroda.
  • We recover condensate and reuse it in our boilers – resulting in better energy efficiency.

Waste efficiency

  • To reduce water consumption and waste, we use liquid indigo instead of powder.
  • Salt recovered from deployment of MVRE is used for commercial purpose, thus reducing landfill waste.

Effluent quality

  • Caustic recovery plant installed at Naroda & Santej recovers and reuses the caustic soda thereby improving water effluent quality.

Arvind Ltd. is an active member of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition – which is working to reduce the environmental and social impacts of apparel and footwear products around the world. We have successfully undergone the evaluation of HIGGS Index 1.0 and the HIGGS Index 2.0 evaluation is in progress.

Social Interventions

For us, strengthening the fabric of the society is as important as innovating the fabrics we manufacture.

Strategic Help Alliance for Relief to Distressed Areas

  • One of our key social arms is SHARDA (Strategic Help Alliance for Relief to Distressed Areas) Trust through which we work in four broad areas - Public Infrastructure, Healthcare, Education and Skill based Training. In education alone, we have touched lives of over 1100 underprivileged children.

Empowering Collaboration

  • In collaboration with the Phillip-Van Heusen (PVH) Group, we sponsor tailor trainings and provide sewing machines to women to empower them to earn their livelihood. We also invest in public sanitation infrastructure.
  • Our focus on sustainable farming not just ensures eco-efficiency but also empowers farmers with higher farm productivity and fair pay.
