Products with environmental benefits

INVISTA’s COOLMAX® EcoMade socks, made, in part, with fiber containing 97 percent recycled resources such as plastic water bottles, have been steadily expanding into the legwear and activewear markets. Easy Set LYCRA® fiber and steam-settable LYCRA® fiber can help reduce the energy intensity of mill processing. INVISTA also provides technical services to its customers to improve quality and minimize waste in fabric production. Quality fibers can reduce breakage and improve yields, which helps to decrease waste and optimize resources.

The Global Organic Textile Standard permits fabrics and garments containing up to 5 percent of LYCRA® fiber to be labelled “organic.” Also, the International Oeko-Tex® Association has certified that LYCRA® fiber meets the requirements of the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100, product class 1. This certification indicates that the product has met human-ecological requirements of the standard established for yarns to be used for baby clothing – the highest level of approval.¹ Our optimized packaging sizes improve the efficiency of shipments, and we strive to use packaging materials that are recyclable or reusable.

Garment Care
Additionally, synthetic fibres like the ones INVISTA produces can be washed and ironed at low temperatures, and dry fast, potentially leading to reduced energy consumption.

The benefits of longer garment life
Environmental considerations don’t stop at the factory gate or at the retail store when a garment is sold. Lifetime use by consumers has a critical impact. The longer the life-cycle of any garment, the greater the return on the resources it took to produce it. Giving consumers garments they can and want to keep wearing can significantly reduce resources needed to manufacture replacement garments over time.

Our fibres and fabrics can extend the useful life of a wide range of clothing categories including swimwear, activewear, legwear, and ready-to-wear, allowing brands and retailers to offer consumers the opportunity to invest in quality and durability, something that will motivate consumers to choose these brands and retailers again and again.
