Turkey apparel exports up 5.96% y-o-y in January 2020

Apparel exports from Turkey increased by 5.96 per cent in the first month of 2020 compared to the same period in last year, according to the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute. In January 2020, Turkey exported apparel worth $1.367 billion, compared to exports of $1.290 billion clocked during the first month of 2019, the data showed.

Category-wise, exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 61) earned $761.869 million during the first-month period, registering a increase of 4.7 per cent from $727.696 million earned during the corresponding period of the previous year.
Exports of non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS chapter 62) were valued at $605.369 million, up 7.6 per cent from $562.619 million exports made in the same period of 2019.
Meanwhile, exports of carpets, mats and tapestries (HS chapter 57) were up 22.7 per cent to $224.563 million during the period under review.
