Sri Lanka's MAS Holdings mounts solar panels across plants

Sri Lankan apparel conglomerate MAS Holdings (Pvt.) Ltd. recently launched its renewable energy drive ‘Photon’, which will see installation of 24 rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems covering 2 million sq ft, from Kilinochchi to Koggala. Commissioning of the first two phases of the project is under way and will realise a combined capacity of over 20 MW.

A third phase in the near future may augment this by a further 7 MW, according to Sri Lankan media reports.
The company first launched its 1 MW solar PV system at its factory in Thulhiriya in 2015. The Photon team is also prepared to venture into next-generation energy solutions for battery storage.
MAS Holdings manages a portfolio of businesses with a revenue of $1.8 billion. (DS)
