Sri Lankan apparel conglomerate MAS Holdings (Pvt.) Ltd. recently launched its renewable energy drive ‘Photon’, which will see installation of 24 rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems covering 2 million sq ft, from Kilinochchi to Koggala. Commissioning of the first two phases of the project is under way and will realise a combined capacity of over 20 MW.

A third phase in the near future may augment this by a further 7 MW, according to Sri Lankan media reports.

The company first launched its 1 MW solar PV system at its factory in Thulhiriya in 2015. The Photon team is also prepared to venture into next-generation energy solutions for battery storage.
