UK-based clothing company Frugi has appointed Margaret McDonald as the group’s new chair. She is an experienced private equity chairman, CEO and global consumer brand specialist who brings a wealth of knowledge from her work with companies across the global retail sector. She has also served as a senior executive for Gap, Banana Republic, and Primark.

During McDonald’s tenure as global president of Victoria’s Secret, its stock price hit an all-time high. She is a non-executive director of private equity-backed Spiritual Gangster, Los Angeles (LA) based sportswear company. She is also the former executive chairman of Masai, a Nordic female fashion brand, and previously served as a non-executive director of Flying Tiger Copenhagen, the brand said in a media release.

“We are excited to be welcoming McDonald into the Frugi team, with her exceptional level of experience across different retail brands. The brand looks forward to immersing McDonald into Frugi’s world,” Sarah Clark, CEO at Frugi, commented.

“I am really looking forward to joining Frugi as chair and working closely alongside Clark and the rest of the fantastic team. It is a very exciting time for the brand, maintaining its focus on sustainability, quality and giving back to the wider Frugi community, whilst continuing to go from strength to strength. I hope to encourage and be a part of this growth going forwards,” McDonald, stated.

“I’m confident McDonald’s fresh perspective and commercial acumen will bring a variety of exciting opportunities to the Frugi group and I’m excited to get stuck in together with Clark and make it all happen,” Ella d’Amato, Frugi board member, said.
