All Turkish goods to be labelled 'Made in Turkiye'

All goods produced in Turkey, including clothing for exports, will be labelled ‘Made in Türkiye’, a presidential decree published in the Official Gazette said. ‘Made in Türkiye’, instead of ‘Made in Turkey’, was first suggested for voluntary use on all the country’s products meant for exports, by the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM) in January 2000.

“The word Türkiye represents and expresses the culture, civilisation and values of the Turkish nation in the bestway,” President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in the decree.

All local organisations have also been asked to use ‘Türkiye’ as the country’s name in all official correspondence.

The push for ‘Made in Türkiye’ has come in the wake of reducing interest rates by the country’s central bank, allowing the currency ‘lira’ to fall, which is expected to boost manufacturing and exports, according to President Erdogan.
